Pinterest Marketing

With Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus there is a little expiration date on your posts.  The idea that your content is evergreen on those social media platforms is non-existent. it’s not.  Your posts on other social networks have a very short life expectancy, with Twitter having the  longevity of a tsetse fly at a brief 2.8 hours. Pinterest, on the other hand, can last in the feed for two days, if no one likes or shares the pin. That’s a long time.

Chicago Marketing: SEO, Social Media, and PHP Development

How can you market your website in Chicago?  The main two avenues are: Social Media, PHP Development, and search engine optimization.  That’s why we at Wishcast integrate the three into one.  It doesn’t have to be either/or, it can be both…and more.  This is what a lot of SEO gurus don’t get.  With social media we use a lot of the principles behind the folks at Social Media Marketing; with PHP development we follow the coding methods of Core PHP; with SEO, we use Moz–the greatest authority in the search engine optimization business.  We have reduced our marketing to these three core aspects because we have found them to be the most effective at finding traffic.  But, not only finding traffic, but finding quality traffic.

Social Media

If someone likes or repins the pin it can draw traffic for considerably longer. Think of the like and repin as a reset button, it’s an indication that the content pinned is still valid thereby nudging it up in smart feed.  We have pins that have been drawing traffic on our own and Pinterest clients’ accounts for years.  If you have evergreen content, meaning it doesn’t expire, you want to make sure it keeps getting clicks from your social media sites. So how does Pinterest effect SEO? Everybody knows that there are a variety of factors in determining Search Engine position, not the least of which being traffic.  By keeping a steady flow of visitors to your site from social media platforms like Pinterest Google is signaled that your content is what people want to see.  Google also displays links to Pinterest boards and Pins in the SERPS, so if you are trying to rank for a particularly saturated keyword you may have a better chance, due to Pinterest’s authority, of ranking a board high in the SERPS and, hopefully, getting clickthroughs to your website.
